A$AP Rocky shared his hopes for his unborn baby with Rihanna telling Elle that he’s “praying for a girl” and that he has a strong feeling this pregnancy will be different from the first two sons he and Rihanna already have.

The rapper born Rakim Mayers spoke candidly about fatherhood during the interview when the topic turned to their hopes and expectations for their third child. He said that in past pregnancies they handled things differently with wanting to know or not knowing the baby's sex. This time they are keeping that mystery alive but he admitted he feels a deep longing. “I hope it’s a girl. I really do.”

Rocky also reflected on how each pregnancy brings its own rhythm and energy. He said that already he senses this one is unlike the others in subtle ways. He can feel shifts in how Rihanna is experiencing things and in the way their family is preparing. While he doesn’t claim special insight he notes that this pregnancy is heavier with hopes and anticipations.

The couple already share two sons Riot, aged two and RZA, aged three. Rocky acknowledged that being a parent has reshaped how he views success and priorities in every sphere of his life. He spoke of wanting to be present and mindful rather than simply chasing public achievements. He emphasized that love for his children is something that grounds him.

When asked whether this time they would wait to find out the baby’s sex he confirmed they are keeping their cards close. He said, “We’re praying for a girl” yet paused before confirming anything. He said they don’t want to rush to label or define what this new life will be before its time.

Rocky’s longing echoes the public whispers fans have speculated for some time that the couple may be expecting a daughter. Subtle hints like wardrobe choices, magazine covers and moments on red carpets have fueled the rumor mill. But none of those signs have been confirmed by Rihanna or Rocky. He seems content to let speculation exist as long as it doesn’t overshadow what matters: the well-being of their growing family.

Throughout the conversation Rocky stressed how fatherhood pushes him into new versions of himself. He admitted that earlier in his career he may have defined his identity in flash, style and public image. Now he said none of that feels as important as being dependable, emotionally present and raising his sons with love. He said that life with children rewrites what it means to succeed.

Even as speculation swirls about names or gender he and Rihanna share a quiet hopefulness. Rocky said he feels this pregnancy is “so different” and that maybe they will hear what they are hoping for. But beyond gender what matters most is the love into which this child will be born.

Rocky’s comments also underscored how happily he supports Rihanna through this pregnancy. He spoke about wanting to show up for her comfort, joy, confidence and health. He described being motivated by the responsibility of a father not just in name but in daily presence, care and love.

The moments when he reflected on the unborn child were tender. Rocky did not present certainty but possibility hope and the emotional force of possibility. What he said makes clear that for him this baby, whether a boy or a girl, is already deeply loved and anticipated.
